On July 11th, FedEx, one of the largest Express companies and the subsidiary of FedEx Corp, announced their successful expansion at the Operating Center at Beijing International Airport. This further enhanced their cargo processing ability, which aims at meeting the increasing demands of the customers.
The brand new Operating Center locates in the South of Zone 1, Tianzhu Comprehensive Bonded Area at Beijing International Airport (PEK), in which the advanced industries have become the pillars of the capital city. With the 7,826 ㎡ total area, the new Operating Center consists of the Storage Area and Office Area and is approximately 4 times larger. The sorting ability almost quadrupled, with upmost 6,000 pieces per hour. The installation automated sorting system and wireless communication system effectively shortened the processing time and guaranteed the fast and effective delivery service for the 16 cities within the network in North China. As FedEx’ first international cargo operating center set in China, the weekly cargo flight numbers 14 and are connected with FedEx’ global flight network. Mr. Zhong Guoyi, VP of International Express Sales at FedEx China mentioned: “The expansion sees our commitment to developing Beijing as well as the North China Region. The improvement of our processing ability and flexibility makes it possible to offer more rapid and more reliable service to our customers, connecting them with FedEx’ global network.”
Statistics from the Customs indicates that the total import and export volume of Beijing in 2012 was USD 407.92 billion, a 4.7% growth. As the largest international express company in Beijing Tianzhu Airports Economy Development Zone, FedEx will continuously strengthen itself to meet with customers’ demands by completing its infrastructure and transportation network, which is also a strong support for Beijing’s continuous growth in foreign trade and the North China’s competitiveness as a whole.
